In the Spring and Autumn period, Wu and Yue were constantly vying for supremacy. King Fuchai (Bai Biao) of Wu launched an attack on Yue to avenge his ancestors, but suffered a great defeat. Fan Li (Pan Zhiwen) convinced Goujian (Luo Shiqing) to surrender to Wu and become a slave there. Goujian suffered countless humiliations in Wu, and in the end, Fan Yong instructed Fu Chai to dispel his guard and let Goujian and his wife (Banban) return to China.
