Seven years ago, the Sailing rocket failed its test flight, and engine developer Hiroshi Tsuchihiro (played by Kan Abe) resigned as a scapegoat. He then returned to his hometown to inherit his father's Tsuchihiro manufacturing plant. Due to his resentment towards the events of that year, he invested a large amount of research funds in the development of new engines and valves, which led to manufacturing difficulties
