In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Dong Haichuan (played by Xie Miao) from Wen'an County, Hebei Province, learned excellent martial arts from his uncle Dong Xianzhou. He was known for his bravery in the village from a young age, loved to fight against the strong and support the weak, and acted in a chivalrous and righteous manner. After the year of the weak crown, he traveled to the mountains of Mingchuan, visited famous teachers and worshipped experts, and learned a great deal about the world's martial arts. Later on Mount Jiuhua, he passed on his skills to the skilled Taoist Bi Yun
