The story takes place during the Liberation War when Li Xiaohu (played by Yang Senchang), who was herding cows for landlord Hu Si, accidentally rescued two scouts from our army on the mountain. Hu Si (played by Liang Shan), who wanted to go to the enemy Chief of Staff (played by Cheng Zhi) to invite credit, learned about the situation and beat and scolded Xiao Hu. Xiao Hu angrily left the Hu family and joined the People's Liberation Army.
